Today we are going to be talking about the microphone, type writer, Braille reading system and sewing machine. Lets learn about them!

Microphone (Lesson 21)

Charles WheatStone was born in England in 1802. He become interested in Volta’s book. He built his own battery for experimentation. When he was 19 he learned that sound is caused by vibrating pressure waves. He invented the microphone in 1827. WheatStones efforts led to modern microphone. He began working on Electric telegraph in 1835. This led to the telephone in the 1870s. Thomas Edison invented the “carbon microphone” in 1873.

Type Writer (Lesson 22)

William Austin Burt was born in Massachusetts in 1792. He devoted studies to sciences to help people. Burt invented the type writer in 1829. later models reduced jamming. People type fast than the write. type writer produce neat documents on demand. Burt’s type writer wasn’t successful in his lifetime. By 1850s, apparent that faster printing methods were needed. An Italian dedicated his life to coming up a workable solution. Hansen writing ball was invented in 1865. The modern design was released in 1874.

Braille Reading System (Lesson 23)

Louis Braille was born in France in 1809. He played in his fathers work shop when he was three, he played and damaged his eye on something. The infection spread to the other eye. He attended the school for the blind. Braille wanted to help blind people. He invented the Braille reading system in 1824. Braille reading system allows blind people to read at standard speeds.

Sewing Machine (Lesson 24)

Barthélemy Thimonnier was born in France in 1793. He invented the sewing machine in 1829. He opened a factory to produce military uniforms for the military. His factory survived for almost 200 years. The sewing machine makes it easy to sew. American Walter Hunt invented one in 1832. John Fisher made a more useful model in 1844.
